The Many Styles of Playing Electric Bass Guitar
Many bass instruments are played upright, as a direct result of the fact that the bass strings are usually the longest, and therefore the instrument is naturally much longer than standard ones. However, electric bass guitars are played in exactly the same way as a standard guitar, and the length of the instrument is roughly the same. This is of course an advantage achieved through the fact that the actual sound heard is produced electronically, and the overall tone, pitch and frequency of the note can be altered digitally. The typical method used to play the electric bass guitar differs slightly from that used in the playing of a standard electric guitar, since the main method used is[..]
History Of English Music The Elizabethan Period - Part 2
The music composers of this period offered an example to the world as writers of madrigals as well as Church music and instrumental music. With the death of Orlando Gibbons (1625), the Madrigalian period was coming to an end. Gibbons was the last of the writers of the so-called "great" period, and after his death, music composition, just as quickly as it had rose to popularity, just as quickly declined in popularity, originality and quality. Even the country as a whole was still very music interested in music. The great composers of the Elizabethan age had simply been used up, most of the great masters were dead, and others were old men. The day of the great Elizabethans was gone. Music[..]

History Of English Music The Elizabethan Period - Part 1
An increased interest in the arts especially music, began soon after the Wars of the Roses ended in 1487, and reached a climax in the reign of Elizabeth (1558-1603). Of all the arts, music was about to have a major face-lift which would increase its popularity from the listeners, and the composers. This increased artistic activity of the Elizabethan age compares with the Renaissance age of Italy, and Elizabethan England owed a great deal to the Italian examples for new and exciting creativity of all art. Music in particular was about to transform dramatically with the introduction of a new musical style called the Madrigal, a music form most associated with that of Elizabethan music.[..]

Lets first talk about some things that a composer can do to make money that are not actually about composing music. One of the best jobs is providing music transcriptions. Many people out[..]

Internet music marketing is a major struggle among many who have tried and failed repeatedly. I was one, however, I somehow persisted through until I was comfortable enough to teach about it. I'm here to briefly disclose 3 important techniques I've learned about online music promotion. 1) Your Fans - Your Business A person does not like to be turned down by their idol by numerous ignored messages. The amount of messages you have not responded to over the internet, is approximately the amount of money missing from your wallet multiplied by $5, or whatever amount you sell your music or product for. This doesn't mean sit down and have coffee with every fan that gives you a thumbs up and you[..]

The Bendir Frame Drum, an Ancient North African Instrument
The Bendir is certainly a different type of frame drum. What sets this frame drum apart is the snare type device, in the form of gut, or more commonly in modern times, a series of plastic lines, stretched along the back of the head, from edge to edge. When the frame drum is struck, this adds a buzzing like quality to the tone. This tends to give a more sustaining sound. The amount of the buzzing varies, depending on how hard and where you strike the skin. The model that I tested recently conveniently allows one to remove this line, thus eliminating the buzz tone and creating a more traditional frame drum sound. I prefer the tone without the snare, so I have removed it, but it can be[..]

Can Online Guitar Lessons Really Work?
Most of us who have been playing guitar forever learned how to play in one of two ways. Either we learned by listening to records, over and over again, to our parents' frustration. Or, we took guitar lessons. These guitar lessons were usually not a lot of fun, and often involved playing some three chord folk song repeatedly. If you are new to playing the guitar or you want to improve your skills, you are extremely lucky to live in a time when there are online guitar lessons. The Marimba has come a long way - both geographically and technically speaking. The proto-marimba has long been a part of Amazonian, West African, and Central American cultures. Best Electric Guitars For the Money
Best Choices for a New Guitar Most instruments have at least a few moving parts. Guitar is no exception. What can often make purchasing a guitar so tricky is the fact that some romance & intrigue is sometimes attached to a few of those moving parts, complicating the purchase process. While Saxophonists may certainly debate about the best reed for a certain purpose, or Trumpet players about the best mouth piece, guitarists have many variables to ponder and much of that is truly a matter of opinion. For example, while most would agree that plywood is perhaps not the best material for guitar construction, some may feel that Ash always sounds best, others Mahogany, some even sing the praises[..]

Looking For The Best Old Gospel Guitar Tabs?
Along with praising God through the gospel lyrics, gospel links up with rhythm, melody, harmony and tempo. When the guitar and other instruments are added to gospel, the human psyche is more stimulated than with only singing alone. The mental, emotional and physical effects can bring on a natural euphoric feeling strong enough for a longer lasting spiritual uplift. With gospel music believed to only have been around close to a century, there are some that do not truly recognize gospel as an appropriate religious music and this is especially true when adding guitars and other instruments. This question alone has a forever continuing debate between various religious sects differentiating[..]

Obviously, these new guitar heroes, are inspired by, and built on the legacies of those who have gone before. The most prominent and influential in modern times was Ramon Montoya. Although he is best remembered as the Uncle of the trail-blazing Flamenco guitarist, Carlos Montoya, it was, in fact, Ramon who did the "trail blazing" and Carlos who followed, expanding his Uncle's accomplishment. That accomplishment, was a major one. Elevating Flamenco Music from[..]

James Hill is among the best-known serious ukulele players in the world. What sets him apart from most of his peers is that he's not from Hawaii. In fact, he's from about as far away from a tropical Pacific island as one could hope to get: Nova Scotia, Canada. Ironically, it is largely because of where he's from that he became a famous ukulele player. Canada uses the ukulele as a way to teach elementary school children the basics of music, much in the fashion that recorders are used in the US. Hill's love of the instrument started in those early years of his life. James Hill is one of the ukulele performers who actively seeks to redefine the ukulele as a serious instrument and who, at[..]

Guitar Tips - How to Tune Your Guitar by Ear
Learning to tune by ear is a necessary skill for every aspiring guitarist, you may wonder why I say this with all the electronic tuning devices around why would someone bother to learn to tune their guitar by ear. Within the past 5 years or so, the term beat lease has been the phrase that pays when it comes to purchasing a non-exclusive license to a beat online.
